Skybikes

After the seeming failure of Argus Argus’ Mechanoids, the Council of the 10 Legions contracted Sylus Nethander, architect of sky craft, to design and oversee the implementation of a legion of air cavalry.

The enthusiasm for the project was widespread, airborne BISH! surely were going to be the way forward; at least in thought, the Flea Uprising would surely not have anything that could be of match.

It took 2 rotations and 20 moons but when done, Sylus’ creation, the Skybike, took to the sky with all the pomp and circumstance one would expect from such an occasion; the expressed enthusiasm so great amongst the 10 Legions that all bar one, the 6th, demanded machines for themselves. And so it was that, for a short time at least, 9 of the 10 Legions sported an air wing and the skies above the Land of 5th were filled with flying BISH!.

It was to be relatively short lived though. Short of warning, the machines began to fail. First one, then two and before long, 4 moons to be exact, all but the 4th Legion had their Skybikes grounded… or hit the ground, as was the case for many unfortunate pilots. The cause was never known but some suspected it to be the work of Argus, who shortly after the failures began had vanished into the ether.

So it came to be that of the nine Legions, only the 4th had any working Skybikes and even then it was only a quarter of its original compliment. To this day, those Skybikes that remain are part of what’s colloquially known as the Flying Cavalry of the 4 1/4 Legion.
